VERILAST Hip Technology

VERILAST Hip Technology

At Core Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, we know that a hip replacement is no small procedure. For many patients, the research and consultation process begins years or months before surgery even begins and can involve some trepidation and anxiety. Luckily for our patients, hip replacement materials have come a long way in a short amount of time. At the forefront of these advances is the VERILAST Hip Technology.

Two of the most commonly cited concerns about hip replacements are implant wear and implant fracture. VERILAST Hip Technology is the only technology that addresses both of these concerns with its durability and strength. In fact, hip implants that are made using this technology have been lab-tested to last 9 times longer than the current industry standard.

Even with this advanced technology, we always tell patients that whether or not to undergo hip replacement surgery is a very important and personal decision. Hip surgery has been proven to be statistically safe and successful, but it still comes with risks. You should make sure to do diligent research, discuss your options with your primary care doctor and orthopedic surgeon, and of course, consult your family and loved ones before you decide to undergo surgery. Your doctor can also help determine if VERILAST Hip Technology is the right option for your particular situation.

*Safety note: Hip replacement surgery is intended to relieve hip pain and improve hip function. However, implants may not produce the same feel or function as your original hip. There are potential risks with hip replacement surgery such as loosening, fracture, dislocation, wear and infection that may result in the need for additional surgery. Longevity of implants depends on many factors, such as types of activities and weight. Do not perform high impact activities such as running and jumping unless your surgeon tells you the bone has healed and these activities are acceptable. Early device failure, breakage or loosening may occur if you do not follow your surgeon’s limitations on activity level. Early failure can happen if you do not guard your hip joint from overloading due to activity level, failure to control body weight, or accidents such as falls. Talk to your doctor to determine what treatment may be best for you.
